The 2016 Italy Ski Residential was an outstanding success. A group of 42 travelled to Italy to take part an intensive week of skiing. Following 3 days of snow the conditions were perfect all week, with fresh snow and clear blue skies. With such beautiful conditions and huge amounts of determination the students thrived.
All participants took part in a minimum of four hours ski tuition each day. The large group was broken into three all working on appropriate aims and objectives
- Frabolandia – Snowplough start, stop and turns, ski control, independent skiing, carpet travel accent
- Blue/Red advanced - Snowplough start, stop and turns, independent skiing, parallel skiing with turns, button and ski lift accent
- Red/Black advanced – Parallel skiing with turns, carving, independent skiing, button and ski lift accent.
After a day's skiing the group headed back to the hotel. While at the hotel students engaged in a social three course meal. Traditional Italian food was very well received and offered students the chance to try and enjoy different national delicacies. During the meal students exchanged the day’s stories and achievements. As the only group in Hotel Excelsior students could unwind while playing games and socialising.
During the week students progressed in all areas both on and off the slopes. In addition to skiing the trip allowed students to express their personalities as well as have fun and develop communication, independence and social skills.
