Ships Ahoy!

In Science Oak class have been describing different materials and recognising what they are used for. This week we found a pirate ship in the classroom with blue shark infested water and green crocodile infested water. We read a story all about pirates before making our own pirate ships. The class tested different materials in the waters to see what floats and sinks before deciding what material to use. We had lots of boats made from tin foil, sticks, paper and plastic. After making our own Jolly Rodger flags for the ships we tested them all out in the scary waters. The results were recorded in a table and it was fantastic to see so many boats float! Well done Oak class for recognising which materials would work best to float and keep the pirates safe.

We will continue to test different materials and their uses next week in Science.
