Sandcastle Challenge

Maple class are taking part in the Sandcastle Challenge in conjunction with Children North East. This is North East England's very own children's charity that has been transforming the lives of disadvantaged children since 1891.

Mr Ciaraldi is our assigned 'professional' partner who visited Maple class to speak to them and discuss their ideas around this years theme 'Great North Inventors'.
We have chosen Charles Macintosh, a chemist, who is best known for his invention of a method of making waterproof material. He is famous for his waterproof Mackintosh raincoat!

The Sandcastle Challenge takes place on Friday 7th July at Sandhaven Beach, South Shields and we will be joining around 1,700 local school children, creating sculptures in the sand. This promises to be a fun event and we are so excited to take part!
