My Sporting Life......

My sporting life with Kestrels and Cedars Academy,

I train 4-6 pm swimming and 4 times a week athletics training.

I compete in the 200m, 400m, 100m, long jump, shot putt, and swimming I compete in the 50m freestyle , 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and those races in 100m and 4 by 100m relay.

My swimming training helps me because it helps my build up my stamina from Swimming and helps my shot putt in my Athletics.

My skills are determination, stamina and strength.

Places I have competed are :

Gateshead , Manchester , Sheffield ,  Bedford and Grantham

School Games event

Kestrels was one of the athletic teams from Newcastle that competed in a major national competition.

The Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester 2014 saw the best sporting talents in the country come together for a four day meeting.

The team from the region included Miles McGrady from Dame Allans School; Beth Pringle, Wickham School & Sports College; Reuben Cole, Heaton Manor School; Sophie Merrix, Emmanuel College; Emily Stewart, Cedars Academy, and Joseph Gray Emm­anuel College.

In March, the 2014 finals of the Lord’s Taverners U19 National Boccia Championship took place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield.  I was  part of The Cedars Academy team, that took home the national title!

No fewer than 385 boccia teams took part in the Lord’s Taverners county competitions during the 2013-2014 season, with 1,400 young people from 263 schools getting involved in playing the disability sport. Seventy-five teams progressed to 10 regional heats.
