Lord's Taverners Regional Boccia Competition

31st March 2017

Two teams of Cedars students took part in the recent Lord's Taverners Regional Boccia Competition at Gateshead Leisure Centre. The competition saw twelve teams competing from across the North East, all looking to qualify for the National Championships taking place in Sheffield in May.

Both teams performed admirably on the day, winning a number of games against some very good opposition. One of our teams (Team Kestrels) won their first four games, meaning the winner of their final game against Durham Trinity would determine the winner of the overall competition and who would qualify for the Nationals.

The game was extremely close and was tied at one point each going into the final end. Both teams played some great shots and it came down to a final ball shoot-out which, unfortunately, went the way of the team from Durham.

All of the students who took part can be proud of their efforts. We look forward to taking part again next year and hopefully going one better.
