Film Festival

30th June 2017

This year’s event will be the first Cedars Academy Regional Film Festival featuring films from Hilltop and Dryden schools.

As usual, awards will be given out for special recognition at this premiere-style event judged by Emmerdale and Casualty actress Chelsea Halfpenny.

The long-term aim is to make Cedars Academy ‘famous’ by creating a huge regional festival in a bigger cinema funded by ticket sales from each school and/or sponsorships. This years event will be filmed and presentations given to schools and community groups to advertise the benefits of filmmaking and how it can offer exciting enrichment opportunities, as well as, enhance a curriculum. The more schools involved will hopefully generate more press attention.

The Newcastle  Evening Chronicle are currently following our story and came in during Creative Media Week to photograph our students with Melissa Cavanagh, a runner-up on the ITV show ‘The Voice’. Melissa inspired our students by answering questions and performing 6 songs.

The film festival will take place at the Tyneside Cinema on Friday 30th June at 3.30pm.

Tickets are £3 and can be purchased from the main School Reception.
