Goodbye Old (League of) Friends
13th December 2016
Cedars Academy would like to formally recognise the achievements of the League of Friends parents group and to acknowledge and thank them for their dedication in fundraising for our school and for the valuable contribution they have made to our school community over many years.
Cedars Academy has been very fortunate over the last decade or more to have a vibrant and effective parents group known as the League of Friends.
The Chairperson Janice, Treasurer Lynn and Secretary Carol have supported the school since their children started in the nursery at Cedars 18 years ago. Other longstanding members Alison, Brenda and Linda joined the group when their children started school and dedicated 10 years of voluntary service to our school. Several years ago 2 new members signed up to volunteer; Tracey and Sarah joined the League of Friends team, dedicating their time and talents to benefit our students. However this year marks the end of an era for this group and the League of Friends charity has been handed over to a new set of parents who will be taking over from 2017.
In total it is estimated that the group notched up around 5000 hours of volunteering and contributed nearly £40,000 in the last 5 years alone which is a truly amazing achievement.
On behalf of the Governors, staff, students and parents of Cedars Academy we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has volunteered their time and supported the group over the recent years.
Below you will find a brief presentation to be given at the December Assemblies:
