About our Students
Description of the School and Demographics: March 2017
Cedars Academy is a 3-19 special school serving Gateshead, and a few places out of borough when requested.
Pupils can join the school at any point in their school life, although the majority of admissions take place in primary and KS3.
As of March 2017 out of the 147 pupils on roll, 46 in KS1&2, 81 in KS3&4, and 20 in KS5; 26% of school population are girls.
We have a growing number of students on roll; our numbers have doubled since the last inspection in September 2012, resulting in plans for increased and improved accommodation both at our school site in Low Fell and a newly established Post 16 provision, 'Cedars College', at Walker Terrace, in the centre of Gateshead.
The majority of our pupils have a moderate learning difficulty combined with specific communication difficulties, and many of our pupils have associated difficulties such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, or other specific Learning Difficulties:
