Description of the School and Demographics: January 2018
Cedars Academy is a 3-19 specialist school serving Gateshead, and a few places out of borough.
Pupils can join the school at any point in their school life, although the majority of admissions take place in primary and KS3.
January 2018: out of the 167 pupils on roll, 58 in KS1&2, 82 in KS3&4, and 27 in KS5; 23% of school population are girls.
We have a growing number of students on roll; our numbers have doubled in the last five years, resulting in plans for extended and improved accommodation both at our school site in Low Fell and a newly established Post 16 provision, 'Cedars College', at Walker Terrace, in the centre of Gateshead.
The majority of our pupils have a moderate learning difficulty combined with specific communication difficulties, and many of our pupils have associated difficulties such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, or other specific Learning Difficulties:
